Discover Schiedam's Distillers District

Welcome to Schiedam.

Known for its historical centre with canals and for having the tallest windmills in the world! Schiedam is also well known for the distilleries and malthouses. The 18th century was Schiedam's Golden Age. In these darker days, dozens Schiedam jenever (gin) were exported throughout the world and gave the city its nickname 'Black Nazareth'.

Today the 'Distillers District' is very much alive.
New and young distillers like Bobby's and Loopuyt are taking the liquor world by storm.

Together with the 11th generation of Schiedam's famous family distillers as Nolet and de Kuyper, these young distillers are creating world-renowned gins, vodka's and special liquors to keep the heritage of Schiedam alive.
